The old Centurion Municipality consisted of 12 elected ward councillors and eight proportionally elected councillors. This structure is now integrated in the Tshwane Metropolitan Council that was established on 5 December 2000. In this structure eight ward councillors
and a number of proportionally elected councillors represent Centurion.
The local management structure or administrative unit functions in 14 departments, each of which is headed by competent and well-qualified officials. All services are rendered through this administrative unit.Important Services

Ambulance and Fire Brigade Services
Available 24 hours a day
This function rests with the Administrative Unit. It is a standby service that combats civil disruption during natural disasters and enemy action. The service offers several
courses to the public, amongst others first aid, fire fighting, security measures, etc.
The Administrative Unit distributes electricity, supplied by Eskom, to more than 16 700 househoulds and 300 industries by means of 132 kV and 11kV networks.
One person that can try to rectify breaks by means of remote controlled equipment mans the electricity control room from 06:00 to 22:00. During major disruptions emergency phones are diverted to an answering service to allow officials the freedom
to repair faults or co-ordinate repair work. When the control room is not manned, calls are diverted via a radio control system to the duty electrician.
